1) Complete the front page prior to the event. 2) Bring your form to the Thursday night (preferred) or Friday morning On-site grid tech at the track. 3) This entire completed form is required at registration. Vehicles must be inspected by a competent mechanic (may be yourself), technician or service facility prior to the event. Your vehicle should be empty of all loose items, coin tray, driver’s floor mat, etc., make sure all driver(s) sign the tech form We cannot perform a full tech inspection at the event. You are fully responsible for the mechanical condition of your vehicle and completing the front page (pre onsite) section prior to the event.

q wheel bearings: tight, not binding
q battery: securely mounted; caps tight

q fuel lines: no leaks; good condition
q throttle linkage: no sticking or sloppiness
q engine hoses and wires: good condition; secure
q engine mounts: no cracks or distortions
q no oil leaks in engine compartment
q fuel lines and inlet: no leaks or wetness; good condition
q glass: no severe cracks or scratches
q mirrors: left-hand exterior and inside rear-view required
q windshield wipers: working; good condition
q shock absorbers: firm; no leaks; securely mounted
q steering: no excessive wheel play
q DOT approved seat belts required on both front seats (student and instructors must have the equal restraints, may be racing harnesses properly secured)
q convertibles only - minimum four point rollbar with substantial rearward bracing that passes through the decking and bolts to the uni-body structure of the vehicle itself (not required for coupe/sedans). NOTE: Driver's helmet MUST NOT exceed the height of the rollbar. Bolt-ons, "Style Bars" and bolt-on hardtops do not meet the structural requirements.
The following items may be more easily checked while the vehicle is on a lift:
q tires: 2/32" tread minimum; no excessive wear pattern or sidewall cuts; H, V, or Z speed rating recommended
q wheels: not bent; no cracks
q brake calipers: clean, dry
q brake pads/shoes: at least 1/2 of original thickness remaining
q brake hoses, lines: dry, good condition
q tie rods ends: tight no play
q suspension location points: no cracks or excessive rust
q engine/transmission/oil lines: no leaks
q exhaust: good condition; muffler requested, securely mounted
q CV joints: no grease seepage or looseness
q rear wheel bearings: no leaks
q unusual conditions or modifications

Important: Please have your car fully unloaded and ready for the event (your vehicle must be empty by Saturday morning grid tech, all loose items removed, Friday night it does not need to be fully unloaded), proceed to the Tech barn and slip your pre-inspection completed form your windshield wiper.
q all deficiencies noted above corrected
q front and rear glass: clean and unobstructed
q brake fluid: clean; reservoir full; cap tight
q brake lights: all working
q wheel bearings: tight
q tire pressure: adjusted for track conditions
q lug nuts: none missing; tightened to manufacturer's specific torque; wheel locks removed
q hub caps/rings: removed
q gas cap: tight
q all loose items removed from trunk and interior; glove box empty or locked
q special accessories (cameras, g-analysts, etc.): securely installed
q helmet: Snell 2000 or later sticker required.
q clothing: long sleeve shirt and long pants required while on the track, natural fibers (cotton or wool) or fire-resistant material recommended; rubber-soled, closed toe leather top shoes recommended; no sandals
I (Driver(s)) certify that the above inspections have been conducted according to the guidelines set forth and that all deficiencies marked have been corrected. I understand that I and I alone are liable for the condition and suitability of the vehicle listed for participation in this event. On-site MDA staff will check for the completion of the pre-inspection section of the form and assist you with completing the on-site section. MDA staff will assist you in the inspection of your vehicle on-site.
I release the inspector, his service organization, the grid inspector, and Mazda Driving Associates, L.L.C., from any liability arising from failure of this vehicle for any reason, including failure of the items listed on this inspection form.
For safety reasons it is important that you spend the time checking your vehicle ahead of time.

* After Technical Inspection including the
initials of the MDA staff, please take this form to Registration for Driver
Check-in (
* Report to the drivers meeting on-time.
Note: On the day of the driver's school we recommend you have your tires properly inflated beforehand, a full tank of gas and your oil level full.
