Virginia International Raceway (VIR)
Driving
Directions
The VIRginia International Raceway
is located in the scenic hills of Virginia, 12 miles east of
Danville, VA, 20 miles west of South Boston, VA, and just north
of historic Milton, NC.
Driving from
the North:
- From Route 58 east of Danville,
VA, take Route 62 South to Milton, NC, through the traffic light
and onto Route 57 South. Continue one half mile and turn left
onto Racetrack Road. VIR is 1 mile on the left.
- From Route 58 West of South
Boston, VA, take Route 119/Calvery Road South. Go 3.5 miles,
then turn right on Sunset Road (Sunset Road becomes Pointer Road
in VA). Go 4.5 miles to VIR's entrance on the right.
Driving from
the South:
- Traveling North toward Milton,
NC, on Route 62, turn right onto Route 57 South. Continue on
one half mile and turn left onto Racetrack Road. VIR is 1 mile
on the left.
- Traveling North on Route 57,
turn right onto Dotmond Road. At the end, turn right. VIR is
1 mile on the left.
- Traveling North on Route 119,
turn left on Sunset Road (Sunset Road becomes Pointer Road in
VA). Go 4.5 miles to VIR's entrance on the right.
- NOTE: Tow rigs over 10 tons
(20,000 pounds) should use Dotmond Road off NC 57 - NOT Race
Track Road, due to a low limit bridge. Dotmond Road is 2 miles
south of the light in Milton. Turn left on Dotmond Road and proceed
2 miles to the stop sign. VIR's main entrance is straight ahead.
Driving from
Local Airports:
- Piedmont Triad International
Airport (GSO), Greensboro-High Point, NC to VIR
From GSO airport exit take I-40 East to 29 North. Follow 29 Bypass
around Danville to 58 East to Route 62 South. Go 4.5 miles on
62 South to Milton, NC. At the traffic light in Milton, continue
straight on NC 57 South (62 turns right at this light towards
Yanceyville) ½ mile to Race Track Road on the left. Take
Race Track Road 1.1 miles to VIR's main entrance on the left.
- Raleigh Durham International
Airport (RDU), Raleigh-Durham, NC
From RDU airport exit, take Aviation Parkway to 70 West. Go 10
miles +/- on 70 West to merge with I-85 South. Go 2 miles to
501 North exit. Go 28 miles on 501 north to Roxboro. In Roxboro,
follow signs for 57 North. Go 17 miles to Dotmond Road. Go right
on Dotmond Road 2 miles to the stop sign. VIR's main entrance
is straight ahead.
- Danville Regional Airport (DAN),
Danville, VA
From airport, take Route 58 east to Route 62 south (turn right
at a blinking traffic light) to Milton, NC. At traffic light
in Milton go straight on NC 57 South (62 goes right at this light
towards Yanceyville). Go ½ mile to Race Track Road on
left. Go 1.1 mile on Race Track Road to VIR's main entrance on
left.
