Rules and Regulations
Damage to VIR. – VIR will assess any individual
who inflicts damage to their facility
Speeds. Speeds in the paddock should be in the 15 mph
range, there are many enthusiasts milling about, take it easy.
Guests, crew and non-drivers - all are welcome to socialize in the
paddock. Drivers will be held accountable for the actions of
their crew and guests. If you inadvertently damage someone’s
property in the paddock, find an official and we will page the
owner. We are all family in this small community, courteous behavior
is a requirement for a return invitation.
Passengers – Passengers will not be allowed
on the track with students. Only students and instructors are
allowed out together.
Food and beverages - VIR has concession stand open for
breakfast and lunch throughout most of the day in the large building
on your right when entering North paddock, under the covered
deck near NASCAR bend. Participants are allowed to bring coolers
and food for themselves. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted
at all.
No Camping – Gates lock at 6:30 p.m., no overnight
camping.
Hotels – There are many hotels in Danville, VA including
the evening headquarters, Comfort Inn and Suites hotel (434)
793-2000. Other hotels in Danville, VA include the Holiday Inn
Express at (434) 793-4000 and the Hampton Inn at (434) 793-1111.

Pets and small children – VIR discourages bringing pets
to the track. Pets will be allowed if they are leashed and you
clean up after them. If we see pets unleashed, we will find the
owner and both will be asked to leave. Do NOT take leashed pets
onto the false grid or pit areas. Parents are urged to keep a
close eye on small children at this event, especially in the
busy paddock area.
Garbage - We ask that you please put all refuse in the
containers all around the facility (including car parts). If
the grounds are littered, MDA is charged extra for clean up and
that cost will mean an assessment in subsequent entry fees. Stay
on the gravel area, no jack stands on the pavement or you will
be heavily fined by VIR.
Paddock, Autocross and all
paved access roads –
Speed limit in the paddock is 15 mph. Speed limit on access roads
is 25 mph. Do not pound stakes or make any holes for any reason
in any asphalt surface. Offenders will be fined and may be ejected.
Do not paddock on any paved areas. Do not fuel cars on any paved
areas. If you must temporary jack a vehicle on asphalt, you must
have a metal or wood under the jack and jack stands. NO Exceptions.
Do not paint any asphalt surface.
Disposal of Waste Fluid – Use of the drums located in several
areas in the paddock is mandatory for used oil, antifreeze, brake
fluid and other polluting material. Intentional spillage will
not be tolerated and will result in ejection.
Fuel – VIR’s fuel pumps are operated by Credit
Card Only during posted hours, generally 8:00 a.m. – 5:30
p.m. VIR will have available Unocal 110 leaded and 100 unleaded
racing fuel, as well as 93 and 87 octane gasoline.
Gate Hours – The main gate will be open from
7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Power – Limited electrical power is available,
Standard 20 amp duplex plugs are $10, 20 amp shore power is $25.
VIR personnel will tag lines and collect fees.
ATV, golf carts and bicycles – are permitted, use common sense
when operating them. Children should not operate power vehicles.
Noise – Unmuffled engines must not be run between
6:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. and on Sunday between 11:00 am and 12
noon. Stock equivalent noise levels are mandatory for Parade
laps.
Fireworks and Weapons – fireworks and weapons are strictly
prohibited anywhere on the grounds.
Alcohol – To comply with State and County operating
permits, VIR cannot allow anyone to bring in alcoholic beverages.
Coolers will be permitted for personal use with no restrictions,
provide they contain no alcohol.
Food Service – food service is available in
the building adjacent to the Full paddock entrance.
